GOP Endorses Forlini, Floyd for Secretary of State and Attorney General

NOVI — The Michigan Republican Party chose to endorse Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini and Doug Lloyd, the Eaton County Prosecutor as their choice to be the nominees for Secretary of State and Attorney General at their endorsement convention.

The Republicans are looking to regain the seats after losing both races in both 2018 and 2022. Democrats will hold their endorsement convention on Sunday, April 19th in Detroit. The Secretary of State position is open this November due to term limits for current SoS, Jocelyn Benson, who is running for Governor. The Attorney General is also an open seat due to term limits for current Attorney General Dana Nessel.

“I think what we saw with the ballot results today is that it was a good start for a Republican base, and we’re going to need that Republican base when we go into the general election. We’re going to have to have that grassroots to be able to move forward and visit with all the citizens,” said Lloyd upon being endorsed by the convention.

The party will, more than likely, formally nominate both men at the constitutionally required convention in August.
