Dan O’Neil, a well known Northern Michigan attorney, is State Representative candidate of Michigan’s 104th District, representing Grand Traverse County.
Dan has been an attorney for decades fighting for the rights of Michiganders. He has helped hundreds of clients with civil litigation and has dedicated his career to holding candidates and our election system accountable. He’s an expert in campaign finance reform and election transparency.
As an attorney, Dan became an expert mediator and saw the need for consensus building in Michigan – especially on issues that divide our communities. He decided he was the right candidate to be a mediating voice in Michigan to make effective changes in the Michigan State House.
Dan understands how issues facing Michigan are interconnected. He is fighting for key issues that directly affect Michigan’s economy, like environment protections, education reform, and healthcare reform. He believes that protecting Michigan’s environment to ensure clean air and water are essential to keeping our communities healthy. He will fight for the shut down of Line 5, which threatens Michigan’s drinking water. He also believes that healthcare should be affordable to all Michigan citizens. Finally, he believes that Michigan needs education reform that restructures how schools are funded and expands access to free education that reaches beyond traditional education.
He shared with The Ticker, “In northern Michigan we understand that protecting the environment is good business, and that expanding our economy means strengthening our schools, fixing our roads, and protecting our water…If business and community leaders come together, we can build an economy that works for everyone, and I’m ready to head to Lansing to make that happen.”
Governor Gretchen Whitmer supports Dan and shared, “Dan is the exact kind of leader we need now more than ever in Michigan. We’re home to 21% of the world’s freshwater, and Dan is committed to protecting our Great Lakes and cleaning up our drinking water.”
Dan is dedicated to taking on the tough issues that matter in Michigan’s 104th District to fight to make Michigan a state where all can thrive.
