LANSING — The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget released its “Hot 50” publication that highlights the top high-demand, high-wage careers through 2032. The career information includes title, projected annual openings, hourly wage range, job growth information, and the education or training level needed.
The top growing job between now and 2032 in Michigan will be Heavy and Tractor/Trailer Truck Drivers with projected annual job openings at 6,420 representing a 2.1% increase per year. The job with the highest perecentage increase will be Nurse Practitioners at a whopping 41.2% increase.
The report also shows that job growth in the Hot 50 careers includes numerous levels of education. Those with an Associate Degree and a license could be dental hygientists or physical therapist assistants. Those with an apprenticeship can become electricians or do other skilled trades work.
Those with advanced degrees will also see job growth over the next decade with many of the professions requiring a bachelor’s, master’s or higher education.
